The field of college admissions is rapidly and continually changing. Shari keeps abreast of these changes to provide you with the most current and leading-edge advice through a number of avenues. These include:
- Coordinating programs as NJ IECA Regional Group Chair, on trending topics like Gap Years, Transfer Admissions, Applying to BFA programs, and Canadian College Admissions.
- Frequently touring colleges nationwide, often meeting with Admissions representatives for our region.
- Attending professional conferences, most recently: the IECA 2021 Professional Member conference, the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 IECA National Conferences, and NJACAC Conferences and workshops.
- Reading books by thought-leaders in the field. Recent books include: How to Raise an Adult by Julie Lythcott-Haims; Jeff Selingo’s Who Gets in and Why: A Year Inside College Admissions, Educated by Tara Westover, The Years that Matter Most by Paul Tough and Frank Bruni’s Where You Go Is Not Who You’ll Be.
- Participating in National IECA College Conversations with Admissions Reps
- Continually researching for current data sources for early admissions statistics, major rankings and accreditations, merit scholarships, and financial aid.
